'Black Watch' Update

News   •   Jul 06, 2016 17:04 BST

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines can confirm that all guests from Black Watch’s 13-night W1608 ‘Madeira, Portugal & the Azores’ cruise have now returned home safely, or have settled into the alternative arrangements made for them, if they are unable to fly for medical reasons. We will be making calls to guests over the coming days to check on their well-being and ask whether they require any further assistance from us.

All guests booked onto Black Watch’s next cruise – a nine-night W1609 ‘Norwegian Fjords’ cruise, sailing from London Tilbury on Friday 8th July 2016 – have been informed of the unfortunate cancellation by letter and e-mail, and an update has been placed on the corporate website. Guests can contact the office on 01473 742424 with any queries. Guests have been offered a full refund, or the opportunity to select any alternative 2016 cruise, up to 32 nights (in a comparable room grade), at no additional cost, plus receive a future cruise voucher for 20% of the W1609 cruise fare, for new bookings, valid until 31st December 2016.

Fred. Olsen is pleased that many guests from both affected cruises, W1608 and W1609, have chosen to make new bookings, which we hope is a testament to the Captain, Officers and crew on board Black Watch and the professional way in which the situation has been handled.

Black Watch is currently in Funchal, Madeira undergoing repairs, and Fred. Olsen’s team of expert technicians is assessing the full impacts of the incident. It is intended that the ship will sail from Funchal within the next couple of days in order to be able to undertake the full repairs necessary. An exact time frame and the onward destination have yet to be confirmed.

Fred. Olsen is intending Black Watch to set sail on her scheduled 26-night W1610 ‘Arctic’ cruise from London Tilbury as planned, on Sunday 17th July 2016.

Fred. Olsen appreciates the kindness and co-operation of all its Black Watch guests and their families, and thanks them for their patience and understanding in these very challenging circumstances.
