Press release -

‘Around the World 2018/19 with Sydney at New Year’ – a Fred. Olsen first!

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ new dedicated ‘Around the World 2018/19 with Sydney New Year’ brochure showcases an exceptional itinerary and the chance to explore the planet in a magical 107 nights! Fred. Olsen is giving guests the chance to see Sydney’s New Year’s Eve fireworks, peek above the jungle canopy in Costa Rica and marvel at Komodo Dragons in their natural habitat on its 107-night ‘World Cruise’ in November 2018, aboard smaller, more intimate Black Watch.

Departing from Southampton on 12th November 2018, Fred. Olsen’s epic ‘World Cruise’ promises a shopping list of unforgettable memories and experiences! Visiting a total of 35 ports in 22 countries, this will be the first time that Fred. Olsen will be spending New Year’s Eve in Sydney, Australia, to take part in the world’s largest and most lavish celebrations.

Justin Stanton, Sales and Marketing Director for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said:

“We are delighted to be offering guests the chance to take a once-in-a-lifetime holiday on board Black Watch, circling the globe from late 2018. Every stop on this unique voyage to the Americas, Oceania, Asia, Arabia and the Mediterranean will be simply unforgettable; topped-off by an extended stay in Sydney, planned to coincide with the city’s spectacular New Year celebrations – the first time that we have visited at this fun-packed time of the year.”

Black Watch crosses the Atlantic from Funchal in Madeira to St. John’s, Antigua. The ship continues to Colombia, before transiting the Panama Canal and exploring the Polynesian islands, and arriving in Sydney on New Year’s Eve, for a two-night stay.

The cruise skirts along eastern Australia and the Great Barrier Reef, then onto Komodo Island in Indonesia – home to the fearsome Komodo Dragons – Singapore, Phuket in Thailand, Kerala, Goa and Mumbai in India, for an overnight stay.

Black Watch then calls at Dubai in the UAE, Muscat in Oman and Aqaba in Jordan, for another overnight stay. A spectacular transit of the Suez Canal follows, before Black Watch navigates the Strait of Messina through to Naples en route to Southampton, via Gibraltar and La Coruňa in Spain.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines

At Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines we are very proud of our smaller ships – Bolette, Borealis and Balmoral - and the imaginative and unusual itineraries they allow us to offer. Every cruise is hand-crafted from scratch by our team of in-house Journey Planners to make sure you are not only visiting the best destinations, but at the best time to experience them.

For us, it’s not just about where we go but how we take you there. We put as much time into planning scenic cruising as we do in choosing the destinations themselves. On board, our Signature Experiences showcase the history, culture, nature and flavours of the destinations you’ll visit – from Treats of the Region, where you can enjoy local delicacies, to our Sky at Sea star-gazing sessions where you can relax with a hot toddy out on deck while our astronomer talks you through the night sky.

Plus, with each ship carrying 1,300 guests or less, our ships are small enough for us to offer a warm, friendly and personal service where nothing is ever too much trouble, as we visit a host of exciting ports in every corner of the globe.
