'Braemar' Caribbean - Latest Update 29.02.20 2

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines can confirm that Braemar has been permitted to make an unscheduled turnaround call in Philipsburg, St Maarten tomorrow, Sunday 1st March 2020, to disembark existing guests and embark guests arriving by aircraft from La Romana, Dominican Republic.

We will be transferring hotel guests, via three chartered aircraft, from La Romana to the island of St Maarten, to embark Braemar tomorrow.

We will be disembarking guests from Braemar in St Maarten tomorrow, returning them via two chartered aircraft to London Gatwick and Manchester airports, as per our normal charter programme.

With regards to the ongoing cruise itinerary for Braemar, this is currently being finalised and will be confirmed to guests in due course.

We are keeping guests both on board Braemar and those who are staying in hotels in the Dominican Republic regularly informed. The team from Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines UK Head Office are meeting with hotel guests regularly face-to-face and answering any queries.

No guests or crew are, or have been, displaying symptoms that are considered to be consistent with those of Coronavirus.

The safety and well-being of all our guests and crew is our number one priority and we are monitoring closely the developing COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus situation and taking the latest advice from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and World Health Organisation, as well as Public Health England and CLIA.

As a precautionary measure, for some time Fred. Olsen has been operating a raised level of sanitisation across its fleet, in addition to health questionnaires and non-invasive screening measures for guests embarking and re-joining the ship from overland tours, and for ship visitors.

Fred. Olsen’s cruise ships meet, at all times, the highest safety, hygiene and health standards.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has defined and redefined the cruise experience, and judging by the number of passengers that come back time and again, we seem to have styled it to perfection

The company originated in Hvitsten, a small town on Oslofjord in Norway, in 1848 when three Olsen brothers – Fredrik Christian, Petter and Andreas – bought their first ships and began an international shipping company.

Now into the fifth generation of the family, they operate companies skilled in various aspects of the cruise and passenger shipping trade as well as aviation, ships’ crewing, shipbuilding and offshore industries.
Aside from the transportation industries, the Fred. Olsen group also has interests in the luxury hotel sector, estate management, property development, and electronics companies.

Offices for the company are spread throughout the world, although the company headquarters remain firmly in the family’s hands in Oslo and Tenerife. Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is based in Ipswich in Suffolk.
