Renowned wildlife presenter set to board a second cruise in a month after success of the first
A much-loved wildlife presenter who joined guests onboard a cruise received such a welcome, she arranged to join a second a fortnight after disembarking.
Michaela Strachan joined Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ guests onboard Borealis for four nights at the start of the month August to join the Exploring Rugged and Remote Greenland and Iceland cruise.
She delivered two talks – one about British wildlife programme making and the second joined by Borealis’ Entertainment Manager Oliver Turpin on stage to answer questions in our Audience With programme, including a Q&A session with guests.
She also participated in a live Q&A to an online audience of almost 20,000 people on the Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines Facebook page.
And now, she is set to return – this time on Balmoral to the Norwegian Fjords for five nights, departing from Newcastle on August 26th.
Michaela said:
“I absolutely loved my time on the cruise to Iceland and am excited to do another one! This time to the stunning Norwegian Fjords.
“I met so many lovely guests and it was great to be able to share stories with them about wildlife filming and my career and see just how enthusiastic the audience was to learn about the work I have done, share highlights and laughs from my career and answer audience questions.
“My highlight on the Borealis was a trip on a rib around Heimaey, being able to see the stunning rock formations and all the puffins. That's the beauty of cruising on a Fred Olsen cruise, you can stop at some of the hidden gems and discover their secrets.
“I can't wait to explore the Norwegian Fjords and then be able to show guests my home town of Cape Town at the beginning of 2024 on the Bolette ‘Intrepid Beauty of Africa and The Indian Ocean’ cruise. What an amazing cruise to go on!”
As well as joining the five-night Norwegian Fjords Bank Holiday Escape break at the end of the month, sailing the scenic Romsdalsfjord, Michaela is also joining the Cape Town part of the Intrepid Beauty of Africa and The Indian Ocean cruise in January 2024 onboard Bolette.
On board this cruise, she will host insightful talks and accompany guests on a selection of tours, including Boulders Beach and a hike in the Table Mountain National Park.
James Moss, Journey Experience Coordinator at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said:
“Welcoming Michaela Strachan on board Borealis from 4th-8thAugust as we sail to Iceland and Greenland gave our guests something very special to look forward to and we are thrilled that she will be joining us again this year on Balmoral, and a third time next year on Bolette.
“Our guests relish the opportunity to learn more about nature and wildlife – demonstrated by the huge number who joined us in person and online to hear Michaela talk about her extraordinary career.”
On both future cruises, guests will have the chance to book an exclusive lunch with Michaela while she is on board, and as part of the Cape Town cruise, she will be joining guests on several of the excursions arranged as part of the shore tour programme.
