Press release -
Free flu vaccinations for ashore and on board teams at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines
Hundreds of team members at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines have benefitted from a free flu vaccination.
Every winter, the company offers seasonal influenza vaccines to every crew member on board its fleet of three smaller ships Bolette, Borealis and Balmoral. And this year, it has been expanded to the team working shoreside too.
Dr Kate Bunyan, Medical Director at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said:
“Vaccinating our crew against flu protects them and our guests, and is an important part of our on board public health measures to ensure healthy people and healthy ships.
“It’s just as important to keep our shore-based teams healthy too, and we know that not everyone who works shore side is entitled to a free flu vaccine, so we are delighted to have been able to offer a vaccination to everyone at our Ipswich office too.
“35% of our office team were vaccinated, which given that some will get their vaccine via their GP, is amazing.
By the end of the vaccination programme, more than 85% of on board team members – more than 1,500 people – will have been immunised, and more than 85 people took up the offer in the Ipswich office.
The vaccines were administered at Fred. Olsen House by Walton Pharmacy.
