Fred. Olsen Announces New Cruises for 2008/9

Black Watch departs from Southampton for her world cruise, travelling in a westerly direction, on 6th January 2009 for 97 nights. Her course takes her via the Canaries to the Caribbean and a transit of the Panama Canal, then on to French Polynesia and the islands of Tahiti, Tonga and Fiji en route to Australia. Ports here include Brisbane, Sydney, Tasmania and Perth then it’s on to Mauritius and Mozambique. Black Watch calls at Cape Town in South Africa and also visits the African countries of Namibia and Ghana before returning via Cape Verde and the Canaries.

Balmoral’s long voyage takes a very different route, travelling in a northerly direction. She leaves Dover on 14th February 2009 for a 104-night voyage, heading first to Lisbon and Valletta before reaching Port Said in Egypt and transiting the Suez Canal. Balmoral will visit Jordan and Oman, Goa in southern India, then Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam where she calls at Ho Chi Minh City. Hong Kong is next and then come some first time ports of call for Fred. Olsen: Shanghai and Tianjin in China then Yokahama in Japan. Balmoral cruises to Alaska before moving on to Vancouver and finally the Western coast of the USA visiting Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. She returns via Mexico and Guatemala, transits the Panama Canal then travels back through the Caribbean and the Azores.

Lol Nichols, general sales manager for Fred. Olsen said:- “The extension of our fleet has allowed us much more scope for innovative cruises and itineraries. We can offer more long cruises and a host of new ports of call with the increased capacity at our disposal. These, plus the increased list of regional airports in our fly/cruise programme make our 2008/09 brochure the most exciting ever.”

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines

At Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines we are very proud of our smaller ships – Bolette, Borealis and Balmoral - and the imaginative and unusual itineraries they allow us to offer. Every cruise is hand-crafted from scratch by our team of in-house Journey Planners to make sure you are not only visiting the best destinations, but at the best time to experience them.

For us, it’s not just about where we go but how we take you there. We put as much time into planning scenic cruising as we do in choosing the destinations themselves. On board, our Signature Experiences showcase the history, culture, nature and flavours of the destinations you’ll visit – from Treats of the Region, where you can enjoy local delicacies, to our Sky at Sea star-gazing sessions where you can relax with a hot toddy out on deck while our astronomer talks you through the night sky.

Plus, with each ship carrying 1,300 guests or less, our ships are small enough for us to offer a warm, friendly and personal service where nothing is ever too much trouble, as we visit a host of exciting ports in every corner of the globe.
