Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ 'Boudicca' to set sail from Dover on longest-ever voyage!

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ 880-guest Boudicca will be departing from the Port of Dover, Kent on 3rd October 2019, on the company’s longest-ever sailing – an epic 168-night ‘Grand Voyage’. Boudicca returns to Dover – after nearly six months at sea – on 19th March 2020.

Those guests joining the cruise for the whole duration will have the chance to visit no fewer than 61 different ports, towns and cities, right across the globe.Guests can also book shorter sectors of this spectacular longer cruise, such as a 14-night ‘Indonesian Islands Discovery’ from Phuket, Thailand, to Bali, Indonesia in November 2019 and a 14-night ‘Authentic India’ exploration from Colombo, Sri Lanka to Dubai, United Arab Emirates in February 2020.

Jackie Martin, Sales and Marketing Director for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said:

Boudicca’s ‘Grand Voyage’ – of an epic 168 nights – is set to be the longest, most extensive sailing ever undertaken in Fred. Olsen’s history! Guests will get the chance to visit no fewer than 61 different ports, towns and cities right across the globe, taking in far-flung destinations rich in culture and steeped in history.

“Of course, we appreciate that not everyone is able to sail away for an entire 168 nights, so we hope that those looking to take a shorter, but equally exotic, Fred. Olsen fly-cruise will also enjoy making memories to last a lifetime!”

Sonia Limbrick, Head of Cruise at the Port of Dover, said:

“We are delighted that the Port of Dover has been chosen as the starting point for such a celebrated Fred. Olsen cruise. As Dover is immersed in UK history, its iconic cliffs and castle provide the perfect backdrop to begin a voyage to some of the world’s famed destinations.”

Guests embarking on this remarkable adventure will get the chance to marvel at many of the planet’s most spectacular islands; legendary cities; cultural, historic and spiritual sites; a diverse array of amazing wildlife; and awe-inspiring natural wonders.

In South Africa, seek out the ‘Big Five’ game on an unmissable safari during stops at Port Elizabeth and Richards Bay, and see the penguins of Boulders Beach on a tour from Cape Town, where magnificent Table Mountain is a sight to behold.

Indonesia displays its many facets on this global odyssey; the islands of Andaman and the Indian Ocean present chances to indulge in gorgeous sunshine and spellbinding settings. Some of the best beaches on the planet can be found in the Seychelles: Anse Lazio, Praslin Island, is one of the most popular. There are chances to take a wander in Madagascar, famed for its lemurs, chameleons and geckos; and discover Moyenne Island, a breeding ground for giant land tortoises.

The Ubud rice terraces are the statement scene in beautiful Bali, while Lombok and Java are home to incredible volcanic landscapes. For more unusual wildlife, then a call into Komodo Island is a ‘must’, as the natural habitat of the fearsome giant lizards.

Tick off the breath-taking Great Barrier Reef and Kangaroo Island, home to wild kangaroos, wallabies and koalas, in Australia; Sydney’s famous New Year’s Eve celebrations are sure to be a highlight.

Visit Porbandar, the birthplace of Gandhi, and Jerusalem on a tour from Ashdod; uncover ancient sites such as the ‘lost city’ of Petra and Athens’ Acropolis; marvel at the modern delights of Singapore and Dubai; and much, much more.

When Boudicca sets sail from Dover, it will still be displaying the prominent red poppy livery in support of The Royal British Legion, following its role in transporting 250 D-Day veterans, plus their carers and companions, to Normandy, France on the historic ‘D-Day 75 Voyage of Remembrance’ in June 2019.

Fred. Olsen is renowned for its innovative itineraries, and is proud to have been crowned ‘Best for Itineraries’ by Cruise Critic experts in the prestigious ‘UK Editors’ Picks Awards 2018’ for a record four years in a row, as well as picking up the ‘Best for Shore Excursions’ accolade for the first time.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines

At Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines we are very proud of our smaller ships – Bolette, Borealis and Balmoral - and the imaginative and unusual itineraries they allow us to offer. Every cruise is hand-crafted from scratch by our team of in-house Journey Planners to make sure you are not only visiting the best destinations, but at the best time to experience them.

For us, it’s not just about where we go but how we take you there. We put as much time into planning scenic cruising as we do in choosing the destinations themselves. On board, our Signature Experiences showcase the history, culture, nature and flavours of the destinations you’ll visit – from Treats of the Region, where you can enjoy local delicacies, to our Sky at Sea star-gazing sessions where you can relax with a hot toddy out on deck while our astronomer talks you through the night sky.

Plus, with each ship carrying 1,300 guests or less, our ships are small enough for us to offer a warm, friendly and personal service where nothing is ever too much trouble, as we visit a host of exciting ports in every corner of the globe.
