Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines celebrates festive fundraising in aid of Woolverstone Wish
In December 2012, the generous staff at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, Fred. Olsen Travel and Fred. Olsen Limited, based on White House Road in Ipswich, joined together to raise a record-breaking £2,818.00 in a prize draw, in aid of the Woolverstone Wish Fund. This extremely worthy cause was created in order to raise money to refurbish the Chemotherapy outpatient clinics and day-unit in the Woolverstone Wing of Ipswich Hospital, with the aim of increasing the available space, improve privacy for patients and provide a more comfortable treatment area.
This fundraising event is always a festive favourite with the Fred. Olsen offices, and this year attracted an astounding array of over 50 prizes, some worth up to £400, which were kindly donated by Fred. Olsen’s suppliers. Top prizes included: an Xbox 360 MarineXchange, two box seat tickets for Strictly Come Dancing Live! at the O2 DST Group UK, several iPads including a mini iPad Simpleclick and a 26” TV from Global Entertainment.
The Fred. Olsen IT Projects Department have been organising the charity prize draw for a number of years, and were impressed with the generosity of their colleagues across the business this year, especially in view of the difficult economic times. The Department selects a different charity each year, and for 2012, the Woolverstone Wish Fund was chosen as the favourite cause. Other Fred. Olsen fundraising initiatives for the charity included a car wash – held in December 2012, in some of wettest weather the UK has seen in years! – which raised £365.
