Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines to set sail for Caribbean for first time in more than three years

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines will be sailing to the islands of the Caribbean this November for the first time in just over three years.

Guests on board Borealis – also heading on her maiden voyage to the Caribbean – will enjoy some winter warmth while visiting stunning tropical destinations on the Classic Caribbean Islands cruise.

The island-hopping adventure includes stops at nine islands including the lesser-known gem of Bequia, and Antigua, home to 365 beaches and historic landmarks such as Nelson’s Dockyard.

There’s also the chance to uncover sugar cane history aboard the St Kitts Scenic Railway during the call into Basseterre, and sample Caribbean rum at the Mount Gay Distillery – believed to be the oldest working distillery in the world – in Barbados.

Martin Lister, Head of Itinerary Planning and Destination Experience at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said:

“We are thrilled to be sailing back to the Caribbean and showcasing the best of the islands to our guests.

“There are many opportunities to uncover ancient history and fascinating cultures throughout the cruise.

“Highlights include Borealis cruising past the UNESCO-listed site of St Lucia’s towering volcanic pitons and a myriad of outstanding waterfalls – Emerald Pool, Spanny Falls, Jacko Falls and Trafalgar Falls in Roseau, Dominica.”

During the cruise, guest speakers and geologists will be sharing their knowledge of volcanic islands and white sand beaches, as part of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ Signature Experience, Itinerary Insights, which celebrates how guest speakers are chosen to give like-minded travellers a deeper understanding of a particular subject.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines

At Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines we are very proud of our smaller ships – Bolette, Borealis and Balmoral - and the imaginative and unusual itineraries they allow us to offer. Every cruise is hand-crafted from scratch by our team of in-house Journey Planners to make sure you are not only visiting the best destinations, but at the best time to experience them.

For us, it’s not just about where we go but how we take you there. We put as much time into planning scenic cruising as we do in choosing the destinations themselves. On board, our Signature Experiences showcase the history, culture, nature and flavours of the destinations you’ll visit – from Treats of the Region, where you can enjoy local delicacies, to our Sky at Sea star-gazing sessions where you can relax with a hot toddy out on deck while our astronomer talks you through the night sky.

Plus, with each ship carrying 1,300 guests or less, our ships are small enough for us to offer a warm, friendly and personal service where nothing is ever too much trouble, as we visit a host of exciting ports in every corner of the globe.
