Fred. Olsen Cruises and Cruise Connections

A Fred. Olsen cruise is designed to be hassle-free and relaxing, with a seamless experience from boarding to disembarkation. Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is also keen to make sure that its customers have a good experience travelling to and from the ships for their cruises, and the use of a number of regional ports is an important part of this policy.

Fred. Olsen’s new brochure offers details of coach services, transfers from mainline railway stations and regional flight connections. For those who prefer to travel under their own steam, parking facilities are available at all departure ports.

New for 2011/12 is PortLink which offers dedicated coach services from the north east and north west of England to Dover, Southampton and Portsmouth, as well as transfers between rail and coach stations across the UK and cruise terminals. This is in addition to a long-standing partnership with National Express, serving Dover and Southampton, as well as fly-cruises from Gatwick and Manchester.

For rail travellers, Fred. Olsen offers a complimentary shuttle service for Dover, Southampton, Portsmouth and Rosyth. A small charge applies for transfer to cruise terminals from Liverpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle railway stations. For anyone with a long journey to the port, who prefers to fly from their nearest regional airport, flight connections can be booked from £135 per person, or from £195 per person to include transfers to and from the ship.

Nigel Lingard, Marketing Director for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said: “It is always our aim to help our customers have the easiest possible journey from door to door – for those who do not live conveniently close to any of our departure ports, these connecting services offer an ideal solution.”

For 2011/12, the departure ports in the Fred. Olsen cruise programme are Dover, Southampton, Portsmouth, Newcastle, Greenock (Glasgow) and Rosyth (Edinburgh), as well as Liverpool until summer 2011. Caribbean fly-cruises depart from London Gatwick and Manchester.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines

At Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines we are very proud of our smaller ships – Bolette, Borealis and Balmoral - and the imaginative and unusual itineraries they allow us to offer. Every cruise is hand-crafted from scratch by our team of in-house Journey Planners to make sure you are not only visiting the best destinations, but at the best time to experience them.

For us, it’s not just about where we go but how we take you there. We put as much time into planning scenic cruising as we do in choosing the destinations themselves. On board, our Signature Experiences showcase the history, culture, nature and flavours of the destinations you’ll visit – from Treats of the Region, where you can enjoy local delicacies, to our Sky at Sea star-gazing sessions where you can relax with a hot toddy out on deck while our astronomer talks you through the night sky.

Plus, with each ship carrying 1,300 guests or less, our ships are small enough for us to offer a warm, friendly and personal service where nothing is ever too much trouble, as we visit a host of exciting ports in every corner of the globe.
