Fred. Olsen Launches Cruise from Dover Brochure
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has launched a brochure dedicated to its programme of departures from Dover this year on its ships Balmoral and Braemar. Destinations for the 16 sailings featured in the brochure are as diverse as the Arctic, Spitsbergen, Norwegian fjords, Canary Islands, Iberia, Mediterranean and the Adriatic, with cruise lengths from seven nights to 21-nights.
Cruising from Dover is so simple, with its excellent road and rail connections, two comfy terminal buildings, and surely what has to be one of the most beautiful views from any harbour – the magnificent Dover Castle high up above the famous white cliffs standing guard over this important south-eastern corner of England.
One fascinating itinerary is on Balmoral, L1009 - a nine night cruise around the ‘Islands of the British Isles’. The cruise departs on 17th July and first port of call is Guernsey, then Dublin, the Isle of Man, Greenock (for Glasgow), cruising the Hebrides and north coast of Scotland, Kirkwall in the Orkney Isles, Invergordon and back to Dover. Prices for the cruise start at only £799 per person in an inside twin-bedded cabin. This cruise also features the Flagship Golf package, which for an additional £375 per player includes four rounds of golf on leading courses ashore, and an interesting and entertaining programme of golf and social activities for players and non-playing partners as well.
A longer holiday to warmer climes is offered by Balmoral’s 21-night cruise ‘Cultures of the Adriatic’, which sets sail on 21st September visiting Gibraltar, Sardinia, Brindisi, Venice, Split, Kotor, Palma, and Cadiz before returning to Dover. This cruise has the added benefit of Fred. Olsen’s The ArtsClub, which is a special interest programme to be found on selected cruises across the fleet. The two subjects on this cruise are ‘Choirs at Sea’, and ‘Adriatic History’. With no additional charge for the ArtsClub, prices for this cruise start at £1,479 per person in a twin-bedded inside cabin.
All four ships in the Fred. Olsen fleet are small in size, with Balmoral being the largest carrying 1,350 passengers, while Braemar takes 929 passengers, and both exude a relaxed British atmosphere complemented by the friendly staff on board.
