Fred Olsen Launches Preview Brochure for 2009 to 2010

Two longer voyages are highlighted – Black Watch’s Around South America cruise of 73 nights (BW W1001) departs 13th January 2010 from Southampton, while Balmoral has a World Cruise travelling in a westerly direction (BL L1001) departing Dover on 5th January 2010 for 104 nights. On board credit are available with early bookings on both cruises.

Each of these longer cruises can be booked as a whole cruise, or as one of a number of shorter sectors.

The guide also gives an outline itinerary for each ship from spring to autumn 2009.

  • Balmoral, the latest ship to join the fleet, will operate cruises from Dover from May 2009, with destinations including Norway, Iberia and the Baltic. Sample cruise – BL0906 31st May 2009, seven-night cruise to the fjords from Dover, prices from £809 per person.
  • Boudicca will operate out of Southampton in the spring, with cruises to Norway and the Mediterranean, then repositions to Leith in June for a season of north-bound Baltic and Ireland summer cruises. From late August she is based in Newcastle (Port of Tyne) travelling to the Arctic, Med. and the Baltic, then in October she cruises from Portsmouth – a new departure port for the cruise line – travelling to the Adriatic and Mediterranean. Sample cruise – BD0916, 11th July 2009, 12-night cruise to the Baltic from Leith. Ports of call include St. Petersburg, Tallinn, Helsinki and Copenhagen and prices are from £1,395 per person.
  • Braemar will be based in Dover, with cruises to the Balearics, Norway, the Baltic, Arctic, Iceland, Spain and North Africa during spring and early summer. Then, from July she will operate fly/cruises to the Adriatic, Bosphorus and Egypt from the alternating base port of Civitavecchia (Rome), and Piraeus (Athens). Sample cruise – BM0923, 5th November 2009. Fourteen night fly/cruise departing from Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester and Bristol to Piraeus. The cruise calls at ports including Corfu, Dubrovnik, Venice, Valletta and ends in Civitavecchia (Rome). Prices start from £1,296 per person.
  • Black Prince cruises out of Greenock in the spring to the Adriatic, Iceland and the fjords, then repositions to Liverpool in June. From here she operates summer cruises to the Baltic, Norway, the Canaries, Mediterranean and round Britain. Sample cruise – BP0925 departing 27th October 2009. 14-night cruise from Greenock visiting Gibraltar, Motril, Mahon, Barcelona, Cartagena and Leixos (Oporto) returning to Greenock, with prices from £1,098 per person.
  • Black Watch operates out of Dover in spring to the Canaries, Spitsbergen, Norway and round Britain then moves to Southampton for the summer and autumn with cruises to the Black Sea, Med. and fjords, plus one transatlantic voyage to the Caribbean. Sample cruise – BW0917 25th October 2009. This is an ex-UK Caribbean cruise of 25 nights, departing from Southampton and visiting Barbados, St Lucia, Tortola, St Maarten, Antigua and the Azores, with prices from £2,299 per person.

Prices are based on two sharing a twin-bedded cabin and include early booking discounts. As an added bonus, bookings made by 30th April 2008, for cruises of seven nights or more, will be eligible for an additional £100 discount per cabin.
