Fred. Olsen Starts Funcd to Help Victims of Manila Floods
The majority of the crew, aboard all Fred. Olsen’s cruise ships, are from the Philippines, and many have family and friends who have been affected by the recent terrible flooding in Manila. The cruise line has sent a sizeable donation to its Agent in the region, to distribute to families in urgent need of help.
A number of customers, past and present, have also expressed their concern and asked how they can help and, in response, the cruise line has established a fund to help flood victims related to their crew members.
Posters are being displayed on all ships, to inform current passengers that they can donate through their cabin accounts, and anyone else who would like to contribute to the fund can send a cheque, made out to Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, to the company’s Ipswich offices, with a short covering note addressed to Deborah Moore, who is co-ordinating donations.
Donations will be distributed through Fred. Olsen’s crew agency based in the bay area of Manila.
Managing Director, Mike Rodwell said: "This is a very worrying time for many of our crew, with families in the Philippines, and we have set up this fund to offer them much needed support at this difficult time. The company has pledged to match customer contributions to the fund to a significant level. We are all very touched by the concern shown by so many of our customers for the crew and their families."
