Nigel Lingard to Retire from Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines
Nigel Lingard, Marketing Director of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, has announced that, after a career spanning 23 years, he is to retire from the Company with effect from 30th November 2011.
Nigel joined Fred. Olsen in its Ipswich, Suffolk headquarters in 1988. His entry into the travel industry came in 1979, when he joined Swedish ferry operator, Tor Line, in Felixstowe, Suffolk. He subsequently joined Salen Lindblad Cruising, and Scandinavia Seaways, before joining Fred. Olsen.
In addition to being responsible for product development, Nigel - as Marketing Director - has overall responsibility for sales, marketing and reservations for the UK and international markets.
Nigel said:
"After much deliberation, I have decided to stand down as Marketing Director of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, to spend more time travelling with my family…at my own leisure! I have thoroughly enjoyed all the challenges and opportunities that I have faced in my time with the Company, and I am leaving it in an extremely strong position for future growth and continued success."
Nigel is a Director and past Chairman of the Passenger Shipping Association, and serves on ABTA's Membership Committee.
Mike Rodwell, Managing Director of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said:
"We wish Nigel every success with his future plans, and thank him for the tremendous contribution he has made to Fred. Olsen. During his 23-year career with the Company, he has seen us grow from a single-ship operation to being one of the most well-established cruise lines in the world, and he leaves behind an important legacy upon which we can continue to build in the coming years."
