Celebrate Valentine’s Day at sea with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines

A Fred. Olsen cruise is the perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, 14th February – the tranquil days at sea, exotic and exciting destinations to visit and the chance to experience outstanding service and delicious food. Plus, with the relaxing spas on board all four of its smaller, more traditional cruise ships – Balmoral, Braemar, Boudicca and Black Watch – guests can indulge in some special treatments, too!

Fred. Olsen always celebrates Valentine’s Day in great style across its fleet, and this year will be no different! Guests will be able to enjoy a romantic atmosphere on board, and each will interpret the theme in its own individual way; traditionally, the bars and restaurants are decked out in red and white, and the romantic theme is reflected in the daily quiz, evening entertainment and, of course, the food, with heart-shaped cakes for tea and special Valentine’s cocktails in the bars. There is a Valentine’s themed dinner, with a matching dress code, such as ‘Hint of Red’ to inspire guests’ imaginations and a special ‘message dedication’ service, whereby guests can leave romantic messages for loved ones at Reception throughout the day and during the evening entertainment they will be read out.

All four Fred. Olsen cruise ships will be well-positioned to celebrate this special date: Black Watch is at sea, en route to Valparaiso in exotic Chile; Braemar is in Praia, on the lush Cape Verde Islands; Boudicca is in Alta, Finnmark (Norway), on her cruise ‘In Search of the Northern Lights’, one of the most romantic and awe-inspiring sights on earth; and Balmoral will be taking a romantic cruise to Singapore, having made her maiden call at Yangon in Myanmar.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has defined and redefined the cruise experience, and judging by the number of passengers that come back time and again, we seem to have styled it to perfection

The company originated in Hvitsten, a small town on Oslofjord in Norway, in 1848 when three Olsen brothers – Fredrik Christian, Petter and Andreas – bought their first ships and began an international shipping company.

Now into the fifth generation of the family, they operate companies skilled in various aspects of the cruise and passenger shipping trade as well as aviation, ships’ crewing, shipbuilding and offshore industries.
Aside from the transportation industries, the Fred. Olsen group also has interests in the luxury hotel sector, estate management, property development, and electronics companies.

Offices for the company are spread throughout the world, although the company headquarters remain firmly in the family’s hands in Oslo and Tenerife. Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is based in Ipswich in Suffolk.
