Press release -
Cruise D1001 - Boudicca 13nt Canary Islands, sailing 5th January 2010
Most regrettably the current Christmas cruise on board Boudicca has been affected by a gastro-enteritis type virus; and the decision has been taken to conclude this sailing one day early, on 4th January, to allow a most thorough deep cleaning of the vessel , including fumigation, between cruises.
To ensure this task is as successful as possible it is also necessary to delay the departure of cruise D1001, Canary Islands, by 24hrs - now departing at 2000hrs, Wednesday 6th January. In effect this permits a three day deep clean exercise.
Fred.Olsen Cruise Lines sincerely apologises for any disappointment and inconvenience this may cause, but we feel that this is a sensible precaution to take to minimise the chance of the virus being carried forward. Whilst subject to confirmation, symptoms strongly suggest a Norovirus-type infection. We refer our passengers to the standard Norovirus insertion within their ticket pack for details. Should passengers have any specific medical concerns, they may wish to seek advice from their family doctor. Such viruses are very prevalent in the UK at present.
The revised 12 night itinerary is detailed below. Passengers on D1001 will receive a pro rata refund directly to their home address . In addition , each passenger will receive a £50 per person credit to their on board account with our compliments.
