Press release -
Fred. Olsen staff charity 'Christmas Craft Fayre and Cake Bake' hailed a huge success!
A Fred. Olsen staff charity ‘Christmas Craft Fayre and Cake Bake’ in Ipswich on Friday [December 1st] raised £350 for three local causes!
Staff from Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines and Fred. Olsen Limited manned stalls, baked cakes and dressed down to raise funds for three designated staff charities: Cystic Fibrosis, Suffolk Mind and Ipswich Hospital Baby Bereavement Group.
The biggest fundraiser of the day was Penny Edgar, Director of Finance & Treasury for Fred. Olsen Limited, who donated the proceeds from the sale of her legendary chilli jam to the cause – raising a grand total of £112.50.
Amanda Cresswell, Chairperson of the Fred. Olsen Staff Charity Committee, said: “Once again Fred. Olsen staff have shown their incredible generosity by helping three excellent local causes.
“The stalls were well supported, with stallholders selling beautiful handmade items, such as handbags, Christmas decorations, wooden bowls, pepper grinders, jewellery, and more. It just goes to show how much talent there is at Fred. Olsen.
“In addition to the craft fayre, a number of people spent a great deal of time and effort in making delicious cakes and scones to sell, which got snapped up very quickly.
“All the money raised was from staff donations, who made contributions by dressing down for the day in exchange for donations, buying cakes or having a pitch at the fayre.
“A big thank you in particular to Penny for her fantastic contribution in boosting funds through the sale of her delicious homemade chilli jam.”
The charity event took place at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ head office in Fred. Olsen House, on White House Road. The three charities are supported by staff for a 12-month period, from April 2017 to the end of March 2018.
