Press release -
Ipswich-based Fred. Olsen staff take the plunge and select three new local charities to support during 2017/18
Generous staff at Ipswich-based Fred. Olsen have chosen the three local charities that they will support over the next 12 months: Ipswich Hospital Baby Bereavement Group, Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Suffolk MIND.
Over the coming year, Fred. Olsen staff will take part in a series of fun-filled events, including ‘cake bakes’, ‘dress-down days’, competitions and sweepstakes, to raise much-needed funds.
Amanda Cresswell, Chair of the Fred. Olsen Staff Charity Committee, said:
“Each year, Fred. Olsen staff nominate local causes to support over the next year.
“With so many deserving charities, it is always a hard task to choose which ones to support. For many of our staff, however, these causes are very close to their hearts; they may have had friends or family members that have had to make use of the vital services that these remarkable charities provide.
“As a result, we hope to build on the success of our past fundraising efforts and generate as much money as possible for our three incoming charities.
“We have lots of events planned over the next 12 months and are fortunate to have very generous and supportive staff, who are always willing to jump on board for a good cause.”
Bereavement Midwife, Alison Brett, of the Ipswich Hospital Baby Bereavement Group, said:
“We are extremely grateful to Fred. Olsen staff for their support, which will provideresources to enhance the care and environment for local families who suffer the loss of a baby during pregnancy and the early neonatal period.”
Alison Edwards, Cystic Fibrosis Trust Community Development & Fundraising Manager for the East, said community-based fundraising events help to make an enormous difference to the cause:
“We could not achieve so much if it weren’t for the tremendous support of individuals and companies like Fred. Olsen, who kindly choose to raise money for us and also, in the process, raise much-needed awareness.”
Carole Thain, Marketing & Communications Manager for Suffolk MIND, was also delighted that the charity was selected for the year:
“Donations are essential to support the work that we do throughout our county.”
In 2016/17, Fred. Olsen staff raised £12,000 to be split between St Elizabeth Hospice, EACH and Inspire Suffolk.
