Sail 'To the Top of the World’ and make the most of your destination with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines

With destination experience topping the over-50s 'wish list' when it comes to choosing a holiday, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has released four fascinating sailings 'To the Top of the World' in 2018/19, which take in remote parts of Northern Europe.

Holidaymakers can see dramatic landscapes, abandoned 'ghost towns', icebergs or the 'Northern Lights', on one of four hand-picked Fred. Olsen adventures to Arctic Russia, Remote Spitsbergen, Greenland and Norway, from June 2018 onwards.

As an added bonus, guests booking one of these selected Fred. Olsen cruises ‘To the Top of the World’ by 1st March 2018 can benefit from either a free all-inclusive drinks upgrade or up to £200 free shore tour credit.*

Following a poll of 50,000 people aged 50 and over in October 2017 - the largest of its kind ever undertaken in the UK – Silver Travel Advisor has revealed in its 'Industry Report 2018' that the chance to learn about the destination holds the strongest appeal when it comes to choosing a holiday. In fact, nearly 50% of over-50s travellers book a getaway on this basis.

Justin Stanton, Sales and Marketing Director for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said: “These tempting sailings ‘To the Top of the World’ have been carefully selected to provide a lifetime of memories. Experiences range from exploring the abandoned Russian mining settlement of Pyramiden, photographing brilliant blue icebergs, or witnessing Mother Nature’s most sought-after light show, the 'Aurora Borealis', or 'Northern Lights'.

"All guests need to do is to choose their voyage and they can sit back, relax and prepare to be inspired!”

The four sailings that feature in Fred. Olsen's new ‘Top of the World’ brochure - of between eight and 16 nights' duration - are as follows:

- Braemar’s 16-night M1815 ‘Arctic Russia & Northern Norway’ adult-only cruise, ex Southampton on 12th June 2018. Prices start from £1,999 per person.

This stunning exploration carries guests along the Northern Cape of Norway, across the Arctic Circle, towards Russia and the land of the ‘Midnight Sun'. Within this Arctic community, each stop offers extraordinary experiences, including a rich slice of World War history.

- Black Watch’s 15-night W1813 ‘Exploring Remote Spitsbergen’ cruise, ex Liverpool on 27th June 2018. Prices start from £2,549 per person for an Ocean View Room.

This incredible Arctic exploration goes to within 700 nautical miles of the North Pole. This is a voyage of extremes: the remarkable remoteness of the North Cape islands, the eerie 'ghost towns' of Spitsbergen, and the equally strange experience of the 'Midnight Sun', all await the inquisitive traveller.

- Boudicca’s 16-night D1816 ‘The Fjords of Greenland’ cruise, ex Dover on 8th August 2018. Prices start from £2,549 per person.

- Boudicca’s eight-night D1904 ‘In Search of 'The Lights’ in Eight Nights' cruise, ex Newcastle on 26th February 2019. Prices start from £1,299 per person for an Ocean View Room.

With the winter scenery at its most dramatic, guests will have the chance to explore three spectacular destinations in Arctic Norway in just one single, eight-night break.
