Fred. Olsen has assisted the Caribbean’s hurricane relief effort by donating brand new crew uniforms worth £33,000 to two of the worst-hit islands – Barbuda and Dominica. Fred. Olsen donated 1,465 new uniform items, along with 2,263 items of used uniforms. Much of the Caribbean was severely affected by Category 5 Hurricane Irma in September 2017, followed by the devastation of Hurricane Maria.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ 1,350-guest flagship, 'Balmoral', made her maiden call at the Port of Spain, Trinidad on 15th November 2017, as part of a 32-night ‘Caribbean Discovery’ cruise. The Minister of Tourism for Trinidad and Tobago, the Honourable Shamfa Ashaki Cudjoe, took time to visit 'Balmoral' and conducted the ceremonial Plaque exchange with the Ship’s Master, Captain Lars Kjeldsen.
